Agriculture & Food Security
Fostering a resilient, nourished, and sustainable world.
Transforming agriculture, strengthening food security.
Agriculture and food security are central to our mission of empowering communities and promoting sustainable livelihoods. In response to climate change, resource degradation, and malnutrition, we support small-scale farmers with climate-smart practices, improved access to inputs, and nutrition-focused programs. These efforts strengthen resilience, enhance food systems, and ensure vulnerable populations are not left behind.
Why Agriculture Matters
Supporting the farmers who feed Kenya.
Kenya’s smallholder farmers grow most of the country’s food but continue to face systemic challenges ; from erratic weather and land pressure to limited access to markets and quality inputs. At PTS, we recognize that strengthening agriculture is key to ensuring long-term food and nutrition security. Our work helps farmers increase productivity, adapt to environmental shocks, and unlock economic opportunities through sustainable agricultural models.
Our Focus Areas
Climate-Resilient Farming & Eco-Friendly Inputs
We train smallholder farmers in composting, agroforestry, and water harvesting, while improving access to drought-tolerant seeds and organic inputs ; supporting the shift to sustainable, climate-smart farming.
Nutrition & School-Based Agriculture
Through school gardens and community plots, we fight malnutrition by teaching children and families how to grow nutritious food and build lifelong healthy habits.
Technology & Market Access
We develop digital tools that link farmers to markets, reduce post-harvest losses, and boost incomes ; empowering women and youth in rural communities.
Our Commitments
Equity & Gender Inclusion
Prioritizing youth and women in development programs, in line with PTS’s values of inclusivity and equity.
Data-Driven Monitoring
Applying technology, evaluation, and accountability to every programme we run.
Climate & Nature-Based Solutions
Supporting environmental goals through climate adaptation and mitigation built into our agricultural work.
Resilient Foods Kenya (2025–2027)
This flagship project brings together farmer mentors, nutritionists, and tech partners to scale climate-resilient agriculture. It includes setting up demo farms, expanding school nutrition gardens, and rolling out a farmer-buyer digital platform to boost economic resilience and community nutrition.
