ENVIRONMENT AND CLIMATE CHANGE.

Introduction

At Pamoja to Sustain (PTS), we recognize the urgent need to protect and restore our environment while equipping communities to adapt to the growing challenges of climate change. Rooted in our mission of fostering a sustainable and resilient world, our environment and climate change initiatives are designed to reduce degradation, promote nature-based solutions, and strengthen the adaptive capacity of vulnerable populations.

As a national-level organization, our work is aligned with Kenya’s environmental goals and global sustainability commitments. We integrate conservation, education, policy advocacy, and community-driven projects to protect ecosystems and ensure long-term environmental security.

What We Do

01.

Conserve Natural Resources.

We implement tree planting, forest restoration, and land conservation programs that protect ecosystems and maintain biodiversity. Our initiatives reduce environmental degradation and promote sustainable use of natural assets.

02.

Promote Climate Education and Awareness.

We empower communities with the knowledge to understand climate risks and take action. Through workshops, school campaigns, and public forums, we raise awareness about environmental responsibility and sustainable lifestyles.

03.

Advocate for Climate-Responsive Policies.

PTS plays an active role in policy advocacy, working with government and civil society to influence laws and strategies that prioritize environmental protection, climate resilience, and sustainable development.

04.

Strengthen Community Adaptation to Climate Shocks.

We design and implement projects that help vulnerable communities adapt to environmental changes, including training in climate-resilient agriculture, water conservation, and sustainable livelihoods.

05.

Implement Nature-Based Solutions.

We use approaches like agroforestry, watershed protection, and green infrastructure to solve environmental challenges. These sustainable, low-cost solutions enhance climate resilience and restore degraded ecosystems.

06.

Build Strategic Partnerships.

To maximize our impact, we collaborate with government institutions, NGOs, the private sector, and academic bodies. These partnerships help mobilize resources, share knowledge, and scale effective environmental interventions.

Our Approach

  • Community-Led: We place communities at the center of our projects to ensure ownership, relevance, and sustainability.

  • Collaborative: We partner with government agencies, NGOs, private sector actors, and academic institutions to amplify impact.

  • Data-Driven: Using evidence-based research and evaluation, we design and refine solutions that deliver measurable environmental results.

  • Inclusive: We integrate gender equality, youth participation, and marginalized voices in climate action.

Community-driven reforestation efforts.

We engage local communities, especially youth and farmers, in planting trees, restoring catchments, and protecting biodiversity fostering ownership and sustainable livelihoods.

Sustainable farming in climate action.

We promote sustainable farming through eco-friendly practices that support food security and protect the environment. These climate-smart methods help communities adapt to changing weather patterns.

Protecting Kenya’s ecosystems.

Protecting Kenya’s ecosystems involves conserving forests, wetlands, and vital water sources. These efforts restore natural balance, preserve biodiversity, and enhance the country’s resilience to climate change.
